“Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you, but you decide what you are, what you want to express by the way you dress and the way to live.”

Come one, come all, to the greatest release party of them all! Spark Magazine is releasing its 10th edition! On Friday, May 4th, the gathering is taking place at Peached Social House (6500 N Lamar Blvd).
The release party is to appreciate the hard work of Spark’s creative teams, to reveal the cover of our latest magazine and to show the public what this student-run publication is all about. This event is monumental considering it is the first Spark Magazine release party to be held off-campus! Expect friends, fun and food. And there may or may not be a red carpet to strut your stuff…On that note, you’re probably already texting your best pals and asking them what incredible outfits they are going to be wearing. We got you covered! Get a little dressed up and have some fun with your outfit. This is an opportunity to be around hundreds of people who truly appreciate fashion. This event is the perfect time to get risky and stray away from the typical standard of “formal wear.” Throw on that dress you’ve been wanting to wear but haven’t yet had an excuse to dress up. However, in the end, all that matters is that you are dressing as your best self.Being lovers of style and fashion, Spark emulated a photoshoot to give people an idea of how creative you can get for the release party. If you want to go vintage but do not know where to begin, you are in luck! The ‘70s blue and orange dress and retro white sunglasses that Ayu is wearing were provided by Prototype Vintage. Paired with shimmery blue eyelids and a high ponytail, this outfit displays the creativity of this event. Feel free to express yourself and try out a look that fascinates you. When in doubt, spunky it out. The floral dress and purple knee-high boots Maddy is wearing are also from Prototype Vintage. Try out vibrant colors for this event and play around with patterns. Don’t let something that catches the eye scare you.
Ida’s jacket and necktie are also from Prototype Vintage. Pay a visit to your neighborhood thrift shop and leave people wanting more of your eye for an artistic outfit. If you are interested in taking the vintage route, some places you can check out are Prototype Vintage, I Luv Vintage or New Bohemia. If vintage isn’t the route for you, the modern road is calling your name. The release party is your oyster here! Pants, dresses, skirts, rompers, two-pieces — all are welcome! A few members of the Spark staff represented a more modern look for this lookbook. Here, Onome wears a red jumpsuit paired with a black chain belt and strappy black heels. Grant is pictured wearing the silky cream button down and the buttoned pants with the black and white brogues. The resulting look: classic with a modern flair. Jade embodies a classy vibe in a tan jacket, silk scarf and red pants. Isaiah is shown wearing a red patterned jacket, graphic tee, grey slacks and Golden Goose sneakers. The point here is that this event is the perfect time to get creative and try something new. Throw some color into your outfit to stand out. Wear those eclectic shoes you haven’t found the right occasion to wear. Try out that hairstyle you saw from that magazine. Wear that lipstick that will make you feel bold. Whatever route you take for your outfit, make it fun and memorable!
This release party will encompass all that Spark is; a blend of various people with different styles uniting to celebrate hard work to create a masterpiece. Spark serves as an outlet for creativity and self-expression. Let this release party be your chance to fully unleash your inner individuality. When in doubt, refer back to this lookbook and even try out one of the looks we crafted. Friday the 4th is quickly approaching so get your stellar outfit ready and come out to this celebration!
