After graduation, a vacation, and the start of two new internships, I’m thinking to myself, “no more athleisure” — it’s really time I spice up my wardrobe. Naturally, I pick up my phone and click on the Instagram app, hoping to be inspired. Fashion inspiration is much closer than you may think, thanks to the power of the Internet. Lucky for me, I may know something you don’t, but probably should know: these five style bloggers are the “queens of the crop” and all based out of Austin, San Antonio, and Dallas.
I. The Minimal Girl We Aspire to Be: @livvylandblog
Not only does she have style, but her Instagram aesthetic has a warmth to it that just draws you in and makes you comfortable — a feeling similar to the one I get when I revisit my parents. It reads, “come on in,” and you should. Her style is simple and clean with a color palette composed of neutral tones.
How many of us can really roll out of bed throw on a pair of cropped jeans and a white button-up and look this effortless? *Sigh* Not I. But you can pull inspiration for minimal looks from her that will create staple pieces within your own wardrobe! DOUBLE TAP.
II. Effortlessly Retro and Vintage With a Side of Quirky: @flashesofstyle
Bonnie is adorable. She looks like a less tatted version of Kat Von D, but she gives off a vibe that is a mix between Stevie Nicks and Dita Von Teese. She’s not afraid to sport lace, peter pan colors, and gingham in a very priceless way that makes you nostalgic for the same outfits.
Regardless of print, texture, and colors, she’s usually always perfectly paired with a bright red lipstick. Her style is one you shouldn’t miss out on. Check. Her. Out.
III. Soft Color Schemes, So Much Poise: @bushrahid
Bushra is the definition of poise. She has such an elegance in how she carries herself on social media. She shares a lot about her travel adventures and always shows off her style. Her silhouettes portray contemporary fashion staples. Classic shapes that have been modified to fit the modern day woman.
I obsess over her large and oversized sleeves and gathers paired with soft color schemes, all while effortlessly posing in front of foreign backgrounds. Her blog is for the modern day woman, and you could create professional and dressed-up outfits that are effortlessly chic!
IV. Black Girl Magic: @makaylamclovin
First off, G-O-A-L-S. She makes me want to pull out my credit card and cop all of her items using her codes for that nice little discount. Not only is she stylish and slim thick, she’s got legs for days and curly hair that won’t quit. ISSA MIX, quite literally, and I’m not over it. Her style is everything that is in right now. She’s in with all of the latest trends, and we’re all here for it.
Most of her posted looks consist of garments from Fashion Nova and Diva Moda Fashion, shops that are trendy, trendy, and more trendy. I know we that at one point or another you were dying to get your hands on something stylish from them! She pushes the boundaries but dresses it up, all while keeping it classy. Again, she’s goals, and you’re welcome because she won’t disappoint.
V. Everything Texas: @lonestarsouthern
She’s beauty, she’s grace, she’s Kate. Kate was residing in Austin but has now moved to Dallas since graduating from UT (HOOK EM!). Her style is clean-cut and classic with pops of color and fun, modernized additions: off-the-shoulder, high cuts and ruffles.
She’s got the composure and a certain sense of having it together that sometimes we all need while we’re cleaning up our style and trying to be professional out in the world taking ourselves too seriously. I look at her posts and can find inspiration for brunch, a day at the office, and a night out on the town. You really can’t go wrong!
Thanks to Instagram, style inspiration is in the palm of your hand. These are obviously not the only fashion bloggers out there, but these are a few of my favorites to peek at that anyone can be inspired by. With summer in full swing, the time has never been better for new inspo. Besides, you really can’t go wrong hitting that follow button. So, what are you waiting for? •
