LEXA GATES IS PHENOMENAL.

Lexa Gates is Queens’ best kept secret.

Whether it’s the slow, entrancing frutiger-aero vibe from “Rotten to the Core,” riveting trumpet melodies on “I Just Can’t Be Alone,” or hearing “What did I do.. foo!” on “Dirt,” her music catalog is sonically versatile for the casual and experienced listener. Gates’ sound is reminiscent of odes from PinkPantheress, 070 Shake, JPEGMafia, and SiR, bundled with a signature style of her own.

I was entranced in a small, yet personal venue alongside other fans. With a large, shimmering disco ball hanging for crowds on two different levels, the atmosphere was well-put. Parish, the local Austin bar and music venue, has a unique history as it was the same venue where Chappell Roan played before reaching  her current level of stardom.

Her concert was a PHENOMENAL experience.

We were greeted by Gates’ DJ, Mellow Domingo. She did a fabulous job priming the stage for Gates to rile up the Austin crowd — in awe of her presence.

Showing us something we’ve ain’t ever seen before…

Gates is shining bright … she’s a star! Her claim to fame features a healthy combination of a stellar discography and propulsion from an electric marketing team. Her growth could be correlated to a recent publicity event, where she remained, for hours on end, on a couch in a glass box to promote her recent album, “Elite Vessel.”

It’s not too late to hop on the rocket to Gates’ rise to stardom. In fact, it's all the more reason to check out “Elite Vessel” and work your way backwards into a sweet, fruitful discography while taking care of your personal errands. I would best describe that her music is a juicy soundtrack of a girl’s monologue and journey in New York, made for your ears.

Through hundreds of TikTok videos featuring targeted album promotion, her fan base grew exponentially.  It’s the kind of growth that propelled Gates’ as “the next best thing!”

I knew the moment I heard her music, she was up next.

Gates is for the fans. Though never officially confirming the rumors on whether her dad is  “Bill Gates” or “Kevin Gates,” her fanbase is no rumor. Gates received hundreds of flowers from fans at her show. She announced that she didn’t know where to put all the bouquets, but would cherish each and every one of them.

The love and energy in the crowd for Gates only proves why Austin has one of the best live music scenes. Gates deserved all the praise as she flexed the versatility of her discography to an eager, music-hungry crowd.

The “Lexa Eyeliner Wing Look” is here to stay.

As an artist, she embodies her signature look with beautiful eyeliner art. From thick broad strokes to a thin curved wing, her eyeliner will be foreseen as a staple for future fans to embody her look as her rise to stardom continues to accumulate new fans.

As her fan base grows, so has the quest to mimic her eyeliner wing. Rumor has it that the eyeliner she uses is “wet n wild Breakup Proof Liquid Eyeliner.”  In the future, a top-of-the-line Lexa Gate eyeliner merch drop would be ideal for fans and admirers.

From Austin, TX to Lexa..

PLEASE come back soon and continue making PHENOMENAL music for the ears, soul, and curling toes.

It’s no rush though, you can keep doing what you’re doing (that’s cool, that’s fine!).

Love,
Ammu from SPARK Magazine ■
